Maruwa

Maruwa is a DJ and producer outta Frankfurt and originally from Russia. A local and regular at the club Robert Johnson, she’s been a sound to be heard across the European circuit of late, playing a repute of international festivals like Pollerwiesen and INOTA, to Melt Festival.

Originally out of Saint-Petersburg she keeps in the EU with a techno progressive & trance sound that in its unique way holds a eastern euro flex close to its chest. Add some breakbeat inspirations referencing both the UK and US also, and Maruwa plays into the harder kicks of techno and ethereal side of trance.

Fashioning acid basslines into her tracks, she’s thrown down workable sets at Rex Club to frequenting Amsterdam party Die Rakete, Panorama Bar in Berlin and playing Hors Sol, Paris. Her efforts have taken her as far as Australia too with the release of a double pack on Steel City Dance Discs, a label pushing breakbeat techno and contemporary trance music to the fullest.

With a tougher side of her sound perhaps attributing to her time in Frankfurt, Maruwa seemingly draws from the breakbeats of her earlier productions, to the techno and trance of Germany, further east, and Europe in between. Nothing wrong with that in an abandoned warehouse, techno club or underground rave somewhere.

Hosting several sets on HÖR and Rinse FM, with productions to catch up on at X-Kalay - Maruwa’s remixes have made it to the Catz ‘n’ Dogz stable alongside featuring on a release with B2B partner Younger Than Me.
